Committees

The work of the Grand Canyon Synod has been organized around three ministry areas……..

Discipleship, Justice and Stewardship

Do you have a passion? Would you like to share your passion and gifts with others?  Contact a synodical board member or send an email to grandcanyonwomen@gmail.com and offer your time and talents to serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ alongside others who share your passion.

Discipleship

Purpose Statement:
To develop and inspire Women of the ELCA through communication in three steps: (1) Develop leadership and program ideas, (2) implement ideas at the unit, conference and synod level and (3) follow up and encourage.

The committee will focus on unit programs and retreats, leadership training, Gather Magazine subscriptions, the synodical website and Canyon Echoes newsletter, and communication as a way to better communicate and provide assistance to congregational units and conferences.

Justice

Purpose Statement:
To create a committee that will raise awareness and prevention of (1) human trafficking particularly in Arizona and southern Nevada, (2) homelessness, particularly with women and children and (3) Native American Ministry needs in Rock Point and urban Phoenix.

The committee will focus on coordinating and sponsoring informational gatherings focusing upon Human Trafficking facts and resources. In addition, the committee will focus on creating and providing information resources on these and other topics for use by the congregational units and conferences.

Stewardship

Purpose Statement:
To put our gifts into action for service to God to help make the world a better place.

The committee’s focus is on service and the use of our  time, talents and treasure through education to help our women understand that stewardship is more than money. It is what we do after we say “yes” to following Jesus.
