Upcoming Events!

PLEASE NOTE:  IN RESPECT TO OUR SISTERS WITH ASTHMA, ALLERGIES OR PULMONARY CONDITIONS, ALL OF OUR EVENTS ARE NOW “FRAGRANCE FREE.”  We request that you do not wear any perfume, cologne, use any scented lotions or essential oils when coming to our events.  Thank you!

Due to recommended precautions re:  preventing the spread of Coronavirus, all events initially planned for 2020 remain cancelled or postponed.  This includes our 2020 Convention/Gathering planned for October 2020 at Resurrection Lutheran in Oro Valley, AZ.
We encourage all women to practice frequent hand washing, maintain the recommended physical distancing, wear a face mask in public, and follow other recommendations from the AZ and NV Departments of Health as well as the Centers for Communicable Diseases (CDC).  We also encourage women to continue to pray for everyone affected in so many ways.  We also pray for our pastors.  We encourage you to maintain your social connections (phone calls, emails, notes/letters)
We suggest that every Tuesday at noon, all women engage in a community of prayer across our entire Women of the ELCA community.  Our churchwide WELCA has written a prayer meditation for your use.  You can download it, print it, share it across your community of women.

Tuesday Prayers during pandemic

Our 2020 Phoenix-area in-gathering planned for Saturday, April 18th, 2020 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran. 1500 W. Maryland Ave, Phoenix 85015 has been postponed.
Please see the following message from Laura Krueger, our AZ In-Gathering Coordinator for LWR Kits and Quilts:

LWR has postponed the Ingatherings for April and May.  We will be rescheduling, probably in the fall.  LWR is encouraging us not to cancel the events totally, as the need for quilts and kits will be greatly needed after this crisis is over.  LWR is asking us to hold onto items until the ingathering is rescheduled.

So the message to everyone would be:

  • If possible, please shelter/store any collected kits and quilts until we can safely gather and collect the items and then transport them to areas needed.
  • Encourage groups who are sewing quilts to continue to make quilts for LWR.  If possible the groups that can assemble kits should do so.
  • The need will be great around the world.  When the crisis is over, LWR will be depleting their current supply and will need to have supplies replaced. In addition, the need may become greater in the United States until people are able to find work again and I’m sure there will be similar situations around the world.
  • Information is being posted on the LWR website regularly:  Everyone can sign up for update emails on this site if they want.
Please note that LWR has informed us they will no longer accept bulk donations of soap as of March, 1, 2020  Also, beginning May 1, 2020, they will no longer accept full-sized fleece tied blankets.
Questions should be directed to Laura Krueger, our AZ In-Gathering Coordinator for LWR Kits and Quilts.
