2019 Lutheran World Relief Ingathering

Saturday, May 4, 2019
9 am to 1 pm
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran, 1500 W. Maryland Ave, Phoenix AZ

An “Ingathering” is the collection of quilts and kits  made for Lutheran World Relief.

If you have quilts and kits assembled already, hold them until May 4th and join us at the truck for an Ingathering of items that will be shipped around the world where they are most needed.  The upcoming season of Lent is a great time for your congregation to join Lutheran World Relief in creating a Season of Hope.

It is not too late to go to to learn how you can get involved.  Put together a Thrivent Action Team to help fund the items for kits and quilts. Gather some friends and family and assemble some kits that will make a difference in the lives of brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.  Questions can be directed to Laura Krueger, LWR Arizona Coordinator at or leave a message at 623/374-2152.

Rev. Dr. Kit Kleinhans
“Vocation and Calling”
Christ the Servant Lutheran Church
2 S. Pecos Rd., Henderson, NV

Celebrating 50 years of Women’s Ordination in the Lutheran Church in the United States

Author of the 2020 Winter Gather Bible Study, The Rev. Dr. Kathryn Kleinhans is Dean of Trinity Lutheran Seminary at Capital University, Columbus, OH.  Ordained in the Association of Evangelical Lutheran Churches (predecessor of the ELCA) in 1985, her first call was in Atlanta, GA.  Kit holds a B.A. in Theology from Valparaiso University, an M.Div. from Christ Seminary – Seminex, and a Ph.D in Theological Studies from Emory University.  She will be sharing her early experiences as a ‘woman with a collar’ in the Lutheran church and leading us in “Vocation and Calling” from the Gather magazine.  Kit was also our presenter in 2017 when she was the author of the Winter Gather Bible Study on Galatians.   We’re looking at securing a room block for a nearby hotel in Las Vegas and there may be a bus trip organized.
